What happens during an introductory call?

  • Discuss your goals
  • Answer any questions you have about therapy
  • Determine if we are a good match to work together
  • If so, arrange therapy contract and first session

How long are sessions?

50 minutes unless otherwise agreed

I know someone who needs help. Who do I contact?

  • Contact 999 / A&E / emergency services if someone’s life is at risk.
  • Reach out to helplines (Lifeline 0800 808 8000, Samaritans 116 123, Mind 0300 123 3393, Young Minds 08 802 5544, The Calm Zone, 0800 58 58 58, Childline 0800 1111)
  • Encourage the person to speak with his / her GP.

How do I prepare for therapy?

  • Consider if you would prefer to speak via Walk & Talk, telephone or an online platform such as Skype. What format is most comfortable, most accessible, etc.
  • Work with your therapist to document your goals and key information in a therapy contract.
  • For your sessions, if online:  Arrange to be in a quiet, confidential place where you will not be interrupted. Have a pair of headphones ready if the session is online. Have comfortable things around you (water, something to write with (if preferred), items to help you feel grounded)
  • For your sessions, if Walk and Talk:  Agree a location, agree how you will manage confidentiality, consider how you’ll manage different weather scenarios.
  • Consider the frequency of therapy you wish to commence (weekly, biweekly, etc.)
